Missions

Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.  And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”  Matthew 28:19-20

Our mission is to be a reflection of Jesus Christ and to share His love and grace with this world.  We do this by sharing the gospel with our neighbors, going on annual mission trips where there is great need and supporting national and world missionaries through the Cooperative Program of the Southern Baptist convention.  We also support Mercy for Mamas and Operation Christmas Child.

Engage

Engage is our local outreach to the communities Lansing and Leavenworth.  Multiple times a year, we as a church family set aside a weekend to go outside the walls of the church and out into our communities to tell other people about God's love for them.

We may do this by washing cars for free, hosting a movie in the park, feeding pancakes to people downtown, giving away shoes to school-aged children or simply cleaning up in our communities.  Many, many projects all done for free and with love in our effort to demonstrate that God loves us and that His gift to us is free.

Ask us about His gift and how you might help us Engage in our communities at:  connect@lansingfirstsouthern.com

Cooperative  Program

The Cooperative Program is the funding organization for thousands of Southern Baptist missionaries on the North America Mission Board and the International Mission Board.  A designated offering and an annual percentage of our giving goes to support these missions.

North  American  Mission  Board

The North American Mission Board plants church in cities across the United States and Canada.  They also fund disaster relief, seminaries, chaplains in the military, and Appalachian ministries.  Check out their website at NAMB.net for more information.

International  Mission  Board

The International Mission board funds 4,700 missionaries and almost 39,000 churches around the world.  Their goal is to reach all of the un-engaged people groups in the world. For more information, check out their website at:  imb.org for more information.

Mercy  for  Mamas

Mercy for Mamas started in 2010 when Melissa Busby, from Mulvane, Kansas,  took a mission trip to Uganda and adopted a baby girl whose mother had died from delivery complications.

She learned that many women in Uganda can not afford sanitary supplies for delivering their babies.  She established an charitable organization that provides Mama Kits that contain sanitary medical supplies.

Mercy for Mammas takes mission trips to Uganda once or twice a year to hand out supplies and reach out to women.

Operation  Christmas  Child

Operation Christmas Child is a ministry of Samaritan's Purse, run by Franklin Graham.

In November, we collect shoe boxes full of  toys, school supplies, and personal hygiene items. Samaritan's Purse delivers those shoe boxes to children in need all over the world.
